September 13, 2007 - Branson, Missouri - Thursday’s race against the clock was expected to be a decisive day for the GC of the Tour of Missouri. With this in mind, and motivated by the strong rides of Will Frischkorn and Mike Friedman on Wednesday, Team Slipstream-Chipotle showed up ready to open fire in Branson. 6 of the 8 Slipstream-Chipotle in the race clocked times good enough to put themselves inside the top 25 on the day. Danny Pate and Timmy Duggan were best of the team and followed their strong showings at the USPRO TT Championships with 5th and 7th places respectively. Following a long, tough day in the break yesterday, Will Frischkorn and Mike Friedman were looking for solid rides to begin to solidify their position on the overall GC. Both riders dug deep, rode strong and Will Frischkorn moved to 2nd overall, just 1:40 behind race leader George Hincapie. Mike Friedman is just another 1:08 back in 5th place overall. The two Slipstream youngsters in the race; Steven Cozza and Huub Duyn put in awesome efforts which landed them 1 and 2 in the Best Young Rider overall standings. Collectively the rides of the team were good enough to hold on to their 1st place overall spot in the Team Classification. With 3 days of racing left, and Friday’s stage being the longest and probably one of the toughest of the race, the roads of Missouri offer lots of opportunity for fireworks. It is still anyone’s race, and the Slipstream-Chipotle guys will be well motivated after their strong showing in today’s TT. Stay Tuned!!!
