Stage 5 - February 6: Kota Baru - Kuala Terengganu, 167.0 km Stage 6 - February 7: Kuala Terengganu - Cukai, 141.5 km

February 07, 2007 - Tuesday’s Stage 5 turned out to be an uneventful day for Team Slipstream, as sprinter Brad Huff gained a bit of a recovery day during the long muggy and stormy stage to Kuala Terengganu. After many close finishes and some hard climbing, Brad needed to save up energy for some upcoming sprint stages and the infamous Genting Highlands climbing stage (stage 9). The race featured a breakaway group for most of the day that did not contain any Slipstream riders but was chased down by Credit Agricole, helping the team conserve energy. The finish came down to another field sprint, with Brad cruising in for 25th place.

Wednesday’s Stage 6 proved Tuesday’s strategy correct, as a fresh Brad Huff sprinted to his best result of the race thus far, an impressive 3rd place. This great result was helped by the set-up work of Team Slipstream’s Michael Creed, who joined yet another breakaway early in the race and helped power that group off the front for 100 kilometers - allowing the rest of the team to enjoy a free ride back in the peloton. With 6km to go, the field was all together and charging towards the finish line for the sprint. Brad Huff maintained excellent position and sped across the line just behind the incredible sprinter Alberto Loddo (Serramenti PVC Diquigiovanni-Selle Italia), who won his fourth stage in the race.

The team¹s top climbers, Timmy Duggan and Mike Lange, have maintained their solid GC positions during the past few sprint stages, and are eagerly awaiting their chance to excel on the Genting Highlands climb on Saturday.
